Differences between Education and Instruction:-
(1) Scope:-
Education:- The scope of education is wide which is the full development of all the innate powers of a child.
Instruction:- Its field is narrow and is limited to the teaching of specific subjects.
(2) Meaning:-
Education:- The meaning of education is very comprehensive which develops the child physically, mentally, socially, spiritually, emotionally and aesthetically.
Instruction:- Instruction means the inculcation of predetermined dozes of knowledge into the mind of a child to achieve mental development only.
(3) Duration:-
Education:- It achieves total personality development in the child. It prepares the child to survive and adjust with surroundings.
Instruction:- Only intellectual development by giving the knowledge of specific subjects which helps the child in passing examinations.
(4) Period:-
Education:- Education continues from birth to death.
Instruction:- It continues upto the time, the child receives education in the school.
(5) Type of knowledge:-
Education:- More importance is given to practical knowledge.
Instruction:- Theoretical knowledge has been given more importance.
(6) Place:-
Education:- Education is imparted through formal, informal and non-formal education.
Instruction:- Instruction is provided only in formal education.
(7) Curriculum:-
Education:- It includes all subjects and activities which are related to life.
Instruction:- Fixed subjects and time. Teacher has to teach them in the given time.
(8) Method:-
Education:- Different methods of teaching are adopted according to the needs and interests of the pupil.
Instruction:- Lecture method, question answer method is followed in order to complete the syllabus on time.
(9) Role of teacher:-
Education:- The role of teacher is subsidiary.
Instruction:- The role of a teacher is more important.
(10) Role of child:-
Education:- The place of child is central, pivotal and of prime importance. The interests, capacities and needs of the child are taken into considerations.
Instruction:- The role of child is secondary. Instruction neglects the interests, inclinations and capacities of the child.
(11) Preparation:-
Education:- Education prepares the child for real life.
Instruction:- Instruction prepares the child to pass in examinations.
(12) Self-learning:-
Education:- Education enables the child for self-learning. It can be applied to solve the problems in future life.
Instruction:- Instruction encourages cramming or rote memory which cannot be applied to meet the challenges of life successfully.
(13) Motivation:-
Education:- Social prestige is the source of inspiration in education.
Instruction:- Securing good marks in the subject is a source of motivation for the child.
(14) Evaluation:-
Education:- In education, pupils are evaluated on the basis of their performance.
Instruction:- Tests and examinations are the important tools by which pupils are evaluated.
(15) Final outcome:-
Education:- The outcomes of education are good citizens, cultured individuals and developed nation.
Instruction:- The outcomes of instruction are pupils with basic knowledge and well-versed in their subjects and fields of activity.
